Doncaster is just a short bus ride from the airport with transport links direct to the town centre. The modern Frenchgate centre offers a range of shops any city would be proud of and is complemented by the famous Doncaster market which dates from 1248 and offers an eclectic mix of clothes, food, crafts and gifts from more than 600 stalls each Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

An abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars entice weary shoppers to rest awhile and Priory Walk with its pavement cafes, restaurants and bars provide an attractive and stylish stopping point. Whilst you meander around the town centre, you’ll see innovative art and attractive seating areas – altogether a rewarding experience.

With Doncaster being home to the St Leger, the oldest classic horse race in the world, there is a strong sporting tradition in the town. Doncaster Racecourse provides more than 30 days of top class racing throughout the year. Race days are a truly social occasion with ample time to savour good food and refreshments in addition to the racing action.

Horse lovers should also try to visit the brand new St Leger Horse Park, home to the internationally acclaimed Northern Racing College, which has taster days throughout the year. In addition to looking around the stables and seeing trainee jockeys in the making, visitors are also invited to look round the interactive museum of the horse with its racehorse simulator, to test their own horse riding abilities.

Hatfield Water Park offers canoeing, dinghy sailing, windsurfing, sub-aqua and coarse fishing as well as a superb climbing wall and aerial walkway. Many of Doncaster's sports clubs and societies encourage visitors with a shared appreciation of their sport and spectators are positively welcomed at the brand new Keepmoat Stadium home of Doncaster Rovers FC, Doncaster Lakers RLFC and Doncaster Belles WFC and Castle Park home of Doncaster RFC, the town's high flying rugby union side.
