Yorkshire passengers are Belfast bound

The first passengers to fly from Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield on the new LinksAir route are now Belfast bound.

Today (April 11) saw the first flight with UK Regional Airline, LinksAir, take off from Doncaster Sheffield Airport to Belfast City.

Steve Gill, managing director of the airport, said: “We were delighted to welcome our first passengers for our new service to Belfast.

“To mark the occasion we had the Celtic Rose Irish Dance School at the terminal performing as passengers checked in.

“Belfast is a great addition to our destinations offering. It will be a fantastic business route with people being able to set off in the morning and be in Belfast city centre for the start of the business day and be back home the same day.”

The Belfast flights will run twice-daily on weekdays and a single Sunday return, departing from Doncaster at both 7.05am and 5.05pm daily Monday to Thursday, with a 10:45am and 5.05pm departures on a Friday.

Return services will leave Belfast City Airport at 8:45am and 6.45pm Monday to Thursday and at 12:25pm and 6.45pm on a Friday. A Sunday service will leave Doncaster at 5.05pm with the return leaving Belfast City at 6.45pm.

Roger Hage, LinksAir Commercial Manager, commented: “This is a great day for LinksAir as we celebrate our first flight from Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield. The Yorkshire airport is now our fourth aircraft and crew base.

“We welcomed on-board our first passengers and look forward to welcoming those from Belfast flying into the region.

“Belfast is a vibrant city and there is clear demand for services between Belfast and the Sheffield City Region.”

Fares on the short 70-minute flight to the Northern Irish capital start from just £64.00 which includes all government taxes and airport charges, a hold-bag up to 15kg, fast-track security access, seat assignment and on-board product, to compliment the beneficial timings to suit both business and leisure travellers.
