Weston Aviation wins FBO concession at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield
Weston Aviation, the UK Based FBO and business aviation services company has been awarded the FBO and business aviation concession at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, taking its portfolio of UK Business Aviation Centres to four. This addition now makes the company, the second largest UK chain of FBOs in terms of locations.
Commenting on the award of the concession, Founder and Managing Director Nick Weston, sees the opening of a new Business Aviation Centre at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield as a significant advancement in the company’s growth. “When we opened our first location in 2002, our strategy was to establish quality FBO services at developing regional airports where there were no such services previously, and through the uniqueness of our product, our established Business Aviation Centres have all been successful and have seen year on year growth.
“Now after ten years of operation, we wanted to take the company to the next level and bring our services to a larger, established 24 hour operational airport and the opportunity that Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield offered us fitted this ambition and strategy perfectly. This new partnership with the airport also continues our relationship with Peel Airports Limited following our opening in 2004 at Durham Tees Valley Airport”.
As part of the new concession arrangement, Weston Aviation will also take on responsibility for local charter sales development and marketing for both business aviation and cargo aircraft operations at the airport and promotion of the airport for ad-hoc charters, working closely with charter brokers and operators.
The new Business Aviation Centre will start operations on the 1st July 2012, and the current handling team at the airport will join Weston Aviation as part of the concession award. “We are pleased that we will be able to offer on-going familiarity to our customers and a smooth transition of this service by welcoming the existing FBO team to Weston Aviation” said Becky Carver, the company’s General Manager, who will be responsible for the new location.
Steve Gill, Airport Director at Doncaster Sheffield Airport added, “We see tremendous potential to develop additional business through the airport, complementing the existing scheduled and charter passenger services.
“Weston Aviation has a proven track record for attracting business aviation, cargo flights and ad-hoc charters and we believe the time is right to establish Doncaster Sheffield Airport in these important markets that will benefit not just the airport but businesses across the region too.
“As a business jet broker Weston will open up new avenues for the local business community and are keen to work with them to understand their travel needs and provide convenient solutions to get them where they need to be - this can often be a much more cost effective way to travel than people think.”
