Airport Celebrates a Baltic Birthday
A Yorkshire airport is celebrating as figures show that more than 30,000 passengers have used a service to Lithuania since it started in April 2011.
The twice weekly flights from Doncaster Sheffield Airport to the increasingly popular capital of Lithuania - Vilnius - have proved to be a hit with travellers looking for new locations to explore.
Lithuania is a perfect destination for anyone looking for a diverse and inspiring getaway full of awe inspiring landscapes, interesting history and a fascinating culture.
Steve Gill, Doncaster Sheffield Airport director said: “We are delighted that this route has taken off so well. Yorkshire residents are making the most of these flights to Lithuania through Wizz Air. The route has exceeded our expectations, which in the current climate really is something to celebrate.
“We’re focused on continuously delivering more and more value for money flights for the region’s passengers, and our relationship with Wizz Air means that travellers can take advantage of some great low fares to a variety of destinations.”

The Cathedral-Basilica of St. Stanislaus and St. Ladislaus, St. Anne’s Church, Dawn Gate, Gediminas Castle & Museum and Genocide Victims’ Museum are largely considered to be the main sights of interest for tourists.
